Join your local Community Supported Fishery! (Because CSAs are sooo 2009)

Vic Pop is volunteering at the Farm to Fork picnic tomorrow afternoon, which is super exciting news on its own. As a result, we’ve been getting friendly emails and updates from Slow Food Triangle, one of the event sponsors. Last night I received news about a fantastic new Carrboro CSF, Community Supported Fishery, which wins First Place for Best Idea I’ve Heard in Many Weeks. Here is the story, straight from the email:

“Slow Food Triangle member and active volunteer Anna Child would like to share some good news that should excite seafood lovers in our ranks. She’s part of the genesis of Carrboro’s first community supported fishery (CSF) project – Core Sound Seafood. Beginning mid-June, the CSF will offer weekly shares of fresh seafood caught “Down East” in Carteret County, NC. Core Sound Seafood’s mission is to “connect the Down East fishermen to a local, viable market. We have pledged to set aside a dollar for every pound of seafood we sell to an assistance fund which will help commercial fishing families in Carteret in times of need.” Visit them online or contact Anna for more information, including how to sign up for the limited number of initial shares:www.coresoundseafood.org; Anna Child (919) 926-9599 or info@coresoundseafood.org.”
