North Carolina Travel: Raleigh + more! The App for iPhone & iPad

In Summer 2011, Sutro Media contracted Vic Pop to write a travel app for iPhone and iPad about the North Carolina Triangle, including the towns of Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and every interesting spot in between. The final product, North Carolina Travel: Raleigh + more!, is essentially a portable eating and adventure guide for the Triangle. Yep, there’s an app for that.

Sutro Media is the world’s largest publisher of independently authored travel guides, and Sutro World allows a peek at more than 2500 sample entries. The app I wrote, titled North Carolina Travel: Raleigh + more! is now available through Sutro World on iTunes.

Downloading Sutro World is free. Once you’ve downloaded Sutro World, click on the “Explore Guides” button in the upper right hand corner of your iPhone/iPad for a list of guides by region. Tucked inside the heading North America, you’ll scroll through a variety of guides until you find a biscuit icon with the title North Carolina Travel: Raleigh + more!

✭ Food, Adventure and Travel in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill ✭
If you are looking for a taste of the New South and an affordable foodie escape, give the Triangle a try. In Chapel Hill, we grow James Beard Award winners like weeds. In May 2011 Andrea Reusing at Lantern took home Best Chef, Southeast. In Durham, you can’t cross the street without running into a brewery or a spot that offers dozens of craft beer on draft, not to mention the natural wine and single estate coffee joints like Wine Authorities and 3Cups.

What pairs better with food than a frosty mug of culture? The Triangle teems with high art and design, this area encourages an entrepreneurial spirit that’s got young folks opening original clothing manufacturers and eye popping art-material culture spots like The Curatory and the Contemporary Art Museum in downtown Raleigh and Durham. Thanks to the talent pouring out of NC State’s College of Design, compelling contemporary architectural projects are changing the landscape here as well.

How this app may help you
Read up on the flavors that make North Carolina an irresistible destination for folks fleeing cities north of the Mason Dixon. Sift through the tags to navigate your way through the locavore food scene.
